Volunteering
Swim meets and team events require many volunteers and a large staff. A commitment from the families of the swimmers is critical to ensure our meets run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Each family is strongly encouraged to volunteer at a minimum of four meets or events. Thank you for signing up for volunteer positions through the team website.
Key Volunteer Positions
Also, there are a number of vitals jobs for parents to fill for a successful season. Please volunteer when able and in the capacity which you are most comfortable. Position descriptions are as follows:
Booster Club Liaison – Attend monthly Booster Club Meetings representing the Swim and Dive Team; monitor team progress on achieving Booster Bucks status; spearhead Booster Membership drive throughout the season; and liaison with Volunteer Coordinator to staff assigned football concessions.
Volunteer Coordinator – Coordinate staffing for home swim meets to include timers, starter and computer operators as well as photographer(s) and hospitality as required; timers for away meets; and chaperones for travel meets. Liaison with CHS volunteer coordinator to ensure all volunteers have approval documentation. Track and submit volunteer hours to CHS volunteer coordinator.
Food Manager/Hospitality – Coordinate snacks for swimmers at all meets; manage donations through Sign Up Genius or other method; and staff team snack table as required. Coordinate coaches’ hospitality if required at post season meets.
Publicity Manager – Submit meet results to local news outlets, and submit articles and photos about the team during the season.
Team Dinner Fundraisers – Secure dates and locations for team dinners and organize work shifts as required.
Team Apparel Coordinator – Coordinate team apparel selections, place orders and distribute merchandise.
Annual Pasta Dinner Host– Host and coordinate food items for pasta dinner held during the regular season.
Senior Night Coordinators – Coordinate Senior Night activities poolside. Liaison with Athletic Department for Fall Sports recognition at the last home football game.
Banquet Coordinator – Coordinate the end of season banquet; secure location and produce event program.
Banquet Slideshow – Create team slideshow with season pictures to be shown at the end of season banquet.
Regional/State Meet Travel Coordinators – Organize and coordinate rooms, meals and transportation for the team.
Meet Hosting Positions
Starter – Start all races during the home meets (experience required).
Computer Operator (Scorer) – Operate the meet management software (experience/training required).
Timers – Use a stop watch to record swimmers’ times during home meets. Requires two volunteers per lane plus a head timer (13 total). Also, standby timers are required for away meets, usually equivalent to the number of lanes in the pool (6 or 8).
Photographer – Photograph swimmers throughout the meet (both in the water and out) for use with publicity releases as well as the banquet slide show.
